Finding Common Ground
February 16 @ 11:30 am – 2:00 pm

“It is not our differences that divide us, but our inability to recognize, accept and celebrate those differences.”
Audre Lorde, author“Unity, not uniformity, must be our aim. We attain unity only through variety. Differences must be integrated, not annihilated nor absorbed.” Mary Parker Follet (1868 -1933)
Join Loret Ulmschneider, a member of the UU Wausau Conflict Transformation Team, for a two-part series on Finding Common Ground on Sundays, February 9 and 16, from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm. This interactive course invites you to discover how differences can spark opportunities for connection and collaboration, fostering greater harmony in relationships.
Together, through engaging discussions, hands-on exercises, and real-world examples, we’ll explore:
- The principles and tools that illuminate the dignity, power, and responsibility within each person, laying the groundwork for mutual understanding and growth.
- Our common ground by identifying shared human qualities and values.
- The process of listening fully as a way to respect the dignity of each person.
- Creative strategies for resolving conflicts with win-win solutions.
- Balancing personal and communal well-being through the principles of solidarity and interdependence.
This course offers a safe, supportive space to reflect on personal experiences, develop transformative skills, and build deeper, more compassionate connections.
Space is limited to 12 participants, and while attending both sessions is encouraged for the fullest experience, it’s not required.
Let’s uncover the common ground that unites us and celebrate our differences as pathways to growth!
