Creativity Matters
August 4 @ 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm
Revisiting Transformation

Always remember that the reason you initially started working is that there was something inside yourself that you felt that, if you could manifest in some way, you would understand more about yourself and how you coexist with the rest of society. – David Bowie
August’s Creativity Matters session revisits a favorite theme – Transformation. Through simple creative activities, we will explore how art and creativity have transformed us and helped us transform our world.
Project Options
We’ll have supplies on hand for the following projects, and participants are always welcome to bring a project of their own to work on as well:
- Scrap Collage: Explore the theme of transformation by turning our collection of paper scraps and materials from the past year into something entirely new. See what unexpected beauty can emerge when small pieces come together.
- Fold-in Art: Create an image that transforms with a simple fold, inspired by the classic Mad Magazine fold-ins. Play with perspective, surprise, and visual storytelling as one picture becomes another.
- 5 Photographs: Using your own photographs, or select images from magazines and our collection of photo and art books, choose five images that capture something in the process of transforming. Then use the medium of your choice to alter, arrange, or combine them into a multimedia piece. This project invites you to slow down, notice, and explore the stories hidden within change.
What is Creativity Matters?
Our Creativity Matters group helps community members engage in monthly themes and explore spiritual growth through creative expression.
It’s all about allowing our intuition and imagination to guide us, not just our logic and reflective minds. Think of it as making room for your right brain to dance with your left brain.
Creativity Matters is a teen and adult group designed for everyone — no experience or artistic skill is required! Just bring a playful spirit and adventurous attitude.
