Director of Religious Education
The Director of Religious Education (DRE) provides leadership to the Religious Education program of First Universalist Unitarian of Wausau, consistent with the congregation’s overall mission. The DRE creates a welcoming, safe, engaging, and rich educational program for adults, children, and families to foster spiritual growth.

Meet Jessica Zimmer
Jes joined the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Wausau staff as the Director of Religious Education in 2021. Previously, she served as a Religious Educator at our UU congregations in Coralville, Iowa, Duluth, Minnesota, and Fargo, North Dakota.
Jes holds a B.A. in Social Science from the University of North Dakota, a Certificate in Youth Ministry Leadership from Yale Divinity School, and is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity at United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities.
Jes is passionate about creating programming that nurtures the UU Church community and the spiritual lives of our children, youth, adults, and families.
When she is not at UU Wausau working on the children and youth religious education program or adult learning opportunities, you’ll find her outdoors, especially in the snow and by the water, reading, and spending time with her family.
