Volunteering Opportunity: Community Suppers
The First Presbyterian Church started serving free meals every Sunday beginning in 2006. Our church is one of 17 congregations and community groups that provide meals 52 times each year.
Post-pandemic, meals have been distributed strictly through drive-up. Presbyterian Chuck Schlitz and his committee don’t see this service returning to the dining hall in the near future.
Our church generously provides meals four times a year, the first Sundays in October, November, February, and March.
Past practice has been to make the food in someone’s home and assemble the food in containers at the church kitchen. Four to five people are needed on those Sundays to help with packing and distribution as people drive up. Typically, about 100 meals are distributed.
Any church member interested in helping with these meals can contact Marsha Fitzgerald at 715-298-1419 or 715-551-5618.
A special thanks to many of you who have been very generous in providing homemade desserts for distribution and who helped with distribution.
