Volunteer Opportunity: The Neighbors’ Place

As part of our ongoing effort to engage our social justice mission, we will highlight volunteer needs in our local community every week.

There are many ways you can get involved with the extraordinary work done by a wide array of organizations right here in Wausau. Our congregational covenant entreats us to actively support socially conscious work, so here are some ideas to get started.

The Neighbors’ Place

The Neighbors’ Place is a homegrown community center providing a hand-up to residents of Marathon County and the surrounding communities.

In 1989, The Neighbors’ Place was established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization after nearly a decade of effort by members of several area churches that came together to address some of the needs they saw in our community.

Our goal is a simple one: to be “People Helping People.” We are here to work collaboratively, listen respectfully, and care actively – treating everyone who comes through our doors with dignity.

Mission Statement

The Neighbors’ Place helps those in need in north central Wisconsin by providing food and basic necessities, education and connecting clients with services, and treating people with dignity and respect.

Volunteer Opportunities

The Neighbors’ Place relies on a team of volunteers to assist us with our daily operations, planning committees, events, diaper packing, and more!
