Martyr! by Kaveh Akbar is a poetry collection exploring themes of identity, faith, suffering, and the search for meaning. The poems examine personal and collective histories, delving into cultural and spiritual belonging. Akbar blends vivid imagery with introspective reflections, addressing the intersections of faith, mortality, and understanding in a turbulent world. Drawing from his Iranian background and experiences with faith, family, and exile, the collection explores how personal struggles intersect with broader societal forces, offering deep emotional and philosophical insight.
