Creativity Matters

Event Series (See All)

October 5 @ 6:30 pm 8:30 pm

Courage

Creativity is an act of courage. Every time we make something new, we take a risk by stepping into uncertainty, trying something we haven’t tried before, and allowing ourselves to be seen through what we create. But creativity also helps us practice courage. When we give ourselves permission to experiment, make mistakes, and follow our curiosity, we build the confidence to approach other parts of our lives with greater openness and resilience. At October’s Creativity Matters gathering, we’ll explore the connection between courage and creativity through hands-on creative practice.

Project Options

We will have supplies for Project Options B, C, and D from the monthly Creativity Matters packet*

  • Superhero Self-Portrait: Create a superhero version of yourself that highlights the qualities, strengths, and courage you carry within. Explore your personal “superpowers” through colors, symbols, words, and images that represent who you are and who you hope to become.
  • Courage Cards: Create courage cards with uplifting images, colors, and words of encouragement. Make one to remind yourself of your own courage and one to share with someone who could use a little extra encouragement.
  • Role Model Collage: Create a collage honoring a person or people who inspire courage in your life. Explore the qualities they represent and the symbols, images, or objects that remind you of the courage they encourage in you.

Don’t have a copy of this month’s Creativity Matters guide? Sign up to be part of the mailing list or reach out to our Director of Religious Education for a copy!

What is Creativity Matters?

Our Creativity Matters group helps community members engage in monthly themes and explore spiritual growth through creative expression.

It’s all about allowing our intuition and imagination to guide us, not just our logic and reflective minds. Think of it as making room for your right brain to dance with your left brain.

Creativity Matters is a high school and adult group designed for everyone — no experience or artistic skill is required! Just bring a playful spirit and adventurous attitude.
