DESCRIPTION:Nurturing Gratitude\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNovember’s Creativity Matters theme is “Nurturing Gratitude.” We’ll explore how creativity can both express and deepen our sense of gratitude through art that celebrates the everyday and handmade offerings that carry appreciation beyond words. Together\, we’ll reflect on how creative practice helps us notice abundance\, transform small moments into gifts\, and let gratitude move through our hands and hearts. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProject Options\n\n\n\nWe will have supplies for Project Options B\, D\, and E from the monthly Creativity Matters packet*: \n\n\n\n\nA Sketched Gratitude List: Begin creating a visual gratitude list. Use images\, drawings\, or collage instead of words. Then\, take it home and keep adding to it each day for a week or two\, letting your sense of gratitude grow through what you create.\n\n\n\nFinding Your Favorite Color: Instead of heading outdoors\, take a “color walk” through our magazines and art materials. Choose your favorite color and look for it in images\, textures\, and patterns as a way to honor and tap into your gratitude for that color. Then use what you find to create something new\, like a collage or color wheel.\n\n\n\nArtistic Thank You Cards: Create a set of five handmade thank-you cards that express your gratitude through art as well as words. You might send them to friends and family\, or think beyond your circle and thank someone who rarely hears it\, like a neighbor\, librarian\, or mail carrier.\n\n\n\n\nDon’t have a copy of this month’s Creativity Matters guide? As autumn deepens and the veil between seasons grows thin\, we’ll turn our attention to memory and mystery: to what is seen and unseen\, what we carry forward\, and what quietly transforms beneath the surface. Choose a project that calls to you: a transparent collage\, a set of memory cards\, a blackout poem\, or a shadow box. Each invites you to explore the layered beauty of remembrance and imagination\, where stories\, symbols\, and traces of the past mingle with the light of what’s emerging. Like the season itself\, our art may be textured\, imperfect\, and full of wonder\, an offering to the shifting world around and within us.  \n\n\n\nOur Saturday Art Gatherings welcome artists\, crafters\, and creative beginners alike\, and are open to adults and teens. We’ll provide examples\, gentle guidance\, and a variety of supplies to help spark your process. Together\, we’ll consider the ways creativity can soften hearts\, bridge divides\, and make care visible. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProject Options\n\n\n\nWe will have supplies for Project Options B\, C\, and F from the monthly Creativity Matters packet*: \n\n\n\n\nDrawing Self-Love: Take a moment to reflect on what self-love and self-compassion mean to you. Then\, using any art form you choose\, create a piece that expresses your own unique vision of self-love and self-compassion.\n\n\n\nThe Voices in Your Head: Using any art form you like\, create two face profiles: one filled with the negative messages of your inner critic\, and one filled with the positive\, supportive words you’d like to hear instead. Give the words color\, size\, and shape that reflect their intensity and meaning. Afterward\, take a moment to step back and notice what stands out\, and what messages of challenge or comfort these faces might offer you.\n\n\n\nBring Compassion to Your Creative U-Turn: Inspired by Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way\, start a project and intentionally leave it only 70% complete\, then “sabotage” it (scribble\, spill\, or mark it in some way). Notice your feelings\, then return with compassion to finish it\, experiencing the process of mending and reclaiming its beauty. DESCRIPTION:Youth Group – Value Quest: Exploring What Matters Most\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis year\, our youth will explore the values they chose as the most important to them – Adventure\, Honesty\, Play & Humor\, Fun\, Conscience & Integrity\, Generosity\, Forgiveness\, Kindness & Respect\, Creativity\, Learning & Growing\, Family & Connections\, Peace\, Friendship\, and Fairness & Equity.Together\, they’ll dive into big questions: How can I make time for play and humor in my life? How can I live in a way that reflects my deepest values? What does it mean to live generously? How do you begin again in love? And through conversation\, service\, games\, and shared experiences\, they’ll discover how to carry these values with them as they move into adulthood. \n\n\n\nReach out to our Director of Religious Education to find out the theme for any particular week and learn how your youth can jump in and be part of the fun.

DESCRIPTION:Sacred Words: A UU Kids’ Guide to Big Ideas\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis year in Children’s RE\, we’ll embark on a playful\, thoughtful journey through some of life’s most meaningful ideas – Community\, Spirit\, Justice\, Love\, and Compassion. We’ll wonder together about the Sacred and the Values we hold dear\, explore the beauty of Awe\, Mystery\, and Hope\, and talk about what Forgiveness\, Mercy\, Generosity\, and Freedom can look like in our lives. We’ll learn about Pluralism\, Equity\, and Truth\, reflect on God(dess)\, and discover how Covenant\, Reverence\, Interdependence\, and Transformation connect us to each other and the wider world. Through our play-based model\, stories\, games\, art\, and community-building\, we’ll nurture curiosity\, empathy\, and the joy of growing together. \n\n\n\nNew children are always welcome. DESCRIPTION:C2: Connections Cafe\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMeeting on the Sundays Youth Group is not in session\, C2 is an open space for youth to connect\, collaborate\, create\, and rest. Youth can choose to play a game\, make some art\, sit in the quiet\, enjoy a snack\, and/or do something else or nothing at all. C2 is a chance for youth to disconnect from the busyness of life and focus on those things that rest and renew their spirit. \n\n\n\nNew visitors are always welcome to join! Come see what C2 is all about and discover a space where youth can relax\, explore\, and connect with others in a welcoming\, creative environment.

DESCRIPTION:Layers of Autumn\n\n\n\nJoin us for a peaceful morning of creativity and connection in our sun-filled Atrium. Inspired by the themes of Mabon and the richness of the season\, we’ll explore what it means to reap the rewards of our efforts\, creative\, personal\, and communal\, through mindful art-making. \n\n\n\nTogether\, we’ll create mixed-media pieces that honor both our thanks for the abundance of this season and the quiet preparation for the darker months ahead. Like the season itself\, our art may be a little messy\, textured\, and layered\, echoing the way nature scatters leaves\, seeds\, and color in abundance.  \n\n\n\nThis session is an opportunity to slow down\, reflect\, and celebrate all that we’ve grown and gathered this year. \n\n\n\nArt & Soul Saturdays welcomes artists\, crafters\, and creative beginners alike\, and is open to adults and teens. We’ll provide examples\, gentle guidance\, and a variety of supplies to help spark your process. Participants are also welcome to bring materials from home to use or share at our community resource table!
