SUMMARY:Creativity Matters
DESCRIPTION:Paying Attention\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMarch’s Creativity Matters theme is “paying attention.” Through reflection and creativity\, we’ll explore how what we give our attention to shapes who we are\, and how slowing down to notice art and beauty can change us. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProject Options\n\n\n\nWe will have supplies for Project Options C\, D\, and G from the monthly Creativity Matters packet*: \n\n\n\n\nAnnoted Art: You start with a picture (one you find\, photograph\, or draw). Then you look at it closely and draw lines to small details that catch your eye. Next to each line\, you write a short note about what you notice\, wonder about\, or find meaningful.\n\n\n\nFinder Art: Use your Finder\, a piece of paper with a square cut out\, to frame and focus in on a detail. Draw or paint what you see\, repeating the process and noticing patterns in what captures your attention.\n\n\n\nSavor Collage: Pick a single word or idea – something like shadows\, circles\, benches\, rust\, or a color. Collect images of that idea\, noticing their details\, both the similarities and differences between them. Then arrange your collection into a collage that highlights what you’ve discovered.\n\n\n\n\nDon’t have a copy of this month’s Creativity Matters guide? Sign up to be part of the mailing list or reach out to our Director of Religious Education for a copy! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat is Creativity Matters?\n\n\n\nCreativity Matters is a drop-in small group for teens and adults to slow down\, connect\, and explore monthly spiritual themes together through art and imagination. \n\n\n\nIt’s less about skill and more about play\, allowing intuition\, reflection\, and creativity to guide us. Think of it as a gentle space where your right brain gets to dance with your left. \n\n\n\nEach gathering offers time for sharing\, creating\, and simply being together. No experience is needed. Just bring your curiosity and a playful spirit.

SUMMARY:Practices for a Lived UU Life
DESCRIPTION:Wisdom\, fundamentally\, is knowing who you are\, where you are\, and what you’re trying to do or be. – by Gordon B McKeeman \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLiving our Unitarian Universalist values can be challenging in a world that constantly pulls us in many directions. Often\, we haven’t had the chance to fully articulate our faith or explore how it shapes our daily lives. This Adult RE series offers hands-on sessions to bridge that gap\, giving participants practical tools to bring UU values into everyday life. \n\n\n\nThrough guided exercises\, participants will explore ways to share who they are and what Unitarian Universalism means to them\, bring intention and meaning into daily routines\, and create space for rest\, renewal\, and hope. Each session provides opportunities for reflection\, small group discussion\, and gentle practice to help these ideas take root in real life. \n\n\n\nThemes: \n\n\n\n\nFebruary: Elevator Speeches – Articulate your personal story and UU values with clarity.\n\n\n\nMarch: Rituals for Everyday Life – Introduce intention and meaning into daily routines.\n\n\n\nApril: Sabbath & Rest – Develop practices that support balance and renewal.\n\n\n\nMay: Cultivating Spiritual Inspiration – Deepen spiritual reflection and sustained engagement.\n\n\n\n\nWe’ll meet on the last Wednesday of each month\, 6:30–8:00 pm\, February–May\, and each session is standalone; drop-ins are welcome.

SUMMARY:Creativity Matters
DESCRIPTION:Practicing Resistance\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAfter exploring “choosing hope” in December\, January invites us to focus on resistance and how creativity can help us stand firm\, speak out\, and act in the face of challenges. Through art and creative practice\, we’ll examine the ways expression can bolster courage\, clarify values\, and sustain us when the world asks us to compromise or stay silent. Together\, we’ll discover how making can be an act of resilience\, empowerment\, and quiet defiance\, helping us shape the world we want to see. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProject Options\n\n\n\nWe will have supplies for Project Options from the January 2026 Creativity Matters packet*: D & E\, and from the April 2023 Creativity Matters packet: D: \n\n\n\n\nRubberband Art \n\n\n\nYour Word for The New Year\n\n\n\nWax Resistance Art\n\n\n\n\nDon’t have a copy of this month’s Creativity Matters guide?

SUMMARY:Creativity Matters
DESCRIPTION:Nurturing Gratitude\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNovember’s Creativity Matters theme is “Nurturing Gratitude.” We’ll explore how creativity can both express and deepen our sense of gratitude through art that celebrates the everyday and handmade offerings that carry appreciation beyond words. Together\, we’ll reflect on how creative practice helps us notice abundance\, transform small moments into gifts\, and let gratitude move through our hands and hearts. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProject Options\n\n\n\nWe will have supplies for Project Options B\, D\, and E from the monthly Creativity Matters packet*: \n\n\n\n\nA Sketched Gratitude List: Begin creating a visual gratitude list. Use images\, drawings\, or collage instead of words. Then\, take it home and keep adding to it each day for a week or two\, letting your sense of gratitude grow through what you create.\n\n\n\nFinding Your Favorite Color: Instead of heading outdoors\, take a “color walk” through our magazines and art materials. Choose your favorite color and look for it in images\, textures\, and patterns as a way to honor and tap into your gratitude for that color. Then use what you find to create something new\, like a collage or color wheel.\n\n\n\nArtistic Thank You Cards: Create a set of five handmade thank-you cards that express your gratitude through art as well as words. You might send them to friends and family\, or think beyond your circle and thank someone who rarely hears it\, like a neighbor\, librarian\, or mail carrier.\n\n\n\n\nDon’t have a copy of this month’s Creativity Matters guide?
