DESCRIPTION:Sharing the Light Within – led by church member\, Mary Testin\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAt this darkest time of the year and a season of uncertainty ahead\, where do we find light and how can we share it to offer hope to others on their journey? \n\n\n\nAbout Mary: Mary Testin is a fairly new member of UU Wausau\, although she’s been singing in our choir for a year or so. She earned a B.A and M.A. in theology\, is certified in offering Spiritual Direction and chaplaincy. Raised in the Roman Catholic Tradition\, she served a variety of communities in liturgy\, education and social justice for 40+ years as a professional lay minister. She met several members of the UU when they volunteered to tutor the Afghan refugees. Impressed with both their commitment and friendliness\, she decided to look at their church which better met the liberal values of openness she was seeking. She is grateful to be part of the UU Wausau community. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nJoin Us On Sundays For Services That Inform & Inspire\n\n\n\nSermons at UU Wausau encompass many topics\, but always with the intent of cultivating dialogue and fostering growth. On any given Sunday\, you will hear a sermon that stimulates your thinking about life\, opens a new perspective on the Bible\, or speaks to the state of the world with words of hope or healing. DESCRIPTION:Christmas Eve Candlelight Service – the Rev. Brian Mason\, preaching\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nJoin us on Christmas Eve for a truly special Candlelight Service. Our evening will begin with an inspiring sermon\, guiding us to reflect on the universal themes of compassion\, unity\, and joy.  \n\n\n\nAs we gather in the soft\, flickering glow of candlelight\, our hearts will fill with celebration and a sense of community\, culminating in the timeless beauty of our congregation singing “Silent Night.” During this poignant moment\, we will pass a single flame from hand to hand\, symbolizing the interconnectedness of our lives and the enduring light of hope that binds us together.  \n\n\n\nCome and experience the warmth and togetherness that define the holiday season this Christmas Eve as we embrace the true spirit of universal unity. We look forward to sharing this meaningful night with you and your loved ones. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAfter the Christmas Eve candlelight service\, there will be a cookie reception. It is suggested to bring a dozen cookies to pass and share with other members. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCommunity Focus Collection (CFC)\n\n\n\nOn the third weekend of each month during September – May\, our Sunday collection is given to a pre-selected Ministry Partner\, organization or cause\, like this one\, that puts our values into practice. Our December 24 donation will go to the Neighbors’ Place. \n\n\n\nThe Neighbors’ Place is the largest food pantry and diaper bank serving north central Wisconsin. The Market food pantry prioritizes the dignity of choice and healthy food options through SWAP (Supporting Wellness at Pantries). This simple\, color coated system for organizing food is designed to make it easy for guests to make informed choices based on their dietary needs and health goals. The Babies’ Place was established in 2021 to address the growing need for diaper and period supply assistance. Currently\, there are no state or federal programs that assist with these essentials. Each month\, The Market serves over 2000 households through in person shopping or delivery and The Babies’ Place provides a supplemental diaper supply to more than 500 children.
