During the service\, we will each add our water to a common bowl\, symbolizing our shared faith and the many sources from which it flows. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nJoin Us On Sundays For Services That Inform & Inspire\n\n\n\nSermons at UU Wausau encompass many topics\, but always with the intent of cultivating dialogue and fostering growth. On any given Sunday\, you will hear a sermon that stimulates your thinking about life\, opens a new perspective on the Bible\, or speaks to the state of the world with words of hope or healing. DESCRIPTION:This Side of Nirvana:  Zen Musings on the Good Life\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nPresenter:  Donna Keuck \n\n\n\nNo one ever said that Zen practice was easy.  It takes work\, which makes it an apt topic for Labor Day weekend!  Many texts and images guide this effort.  One of the most enduring is a set of ten Chinese paintings and poems from the twelfth century.  During this service we will take a look at these inspiring artworks and consider their meaning for our own lives.  In lieu of music\, there will be conversation and laughter.  Instead of a sermon\, there will be guided small group discussion.  Japanese sociologist\, Obaku Zen student and UU Wausau member Dr. Donna Keuck will act as the facilitator.  No one ever said that work can’t be fun.  \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nJoin Us On Sundays For Services That Inform & Inspire\n\n\n\nSermons at UU Wausau encompass many topics\, but always with the intent of cultivating dialogue and fostering growth. On any given Sunday\, you will hear a sermon that stimulates your thinking about life\, opens a new perspective on the Bible\, or speaks to the state of the world with words of hope or healing. SUMMARY:Volunteer Opportunity · Community Supper
DESCRIPTION:The Methodist Church has volunteered to hold community suppers. Past practice has been to prepare the food in someone’s home\, using large roasters from the Presbyterian Church\, or making it at the church. Two to three volunteers are also needed to assemble the food in containers at the church before distributing them to drive-up customers. Typically\, 100 meals are prepared. \n\n\n\nDATES/TIME FOR VOLUNTEERING \n\n\n\nSept. 1\, Oct. 6\, and Nov. 3 (2024). The time commitment would be from 3:30 to 5:15 pm. \n\n\n\nOur church generously provides meals four times a year\, the first Sundays in September\, October\, November & February. \n\n\n\nAny church member interested in helping with these meals can complete this form.   \n\n\n\nA special thanks to many of you who have been very generous in providing homemade desserts for distribution and who helped with distribution. \n\n\n\n*This post has been lightly edited for length

Eco Printing Art & Dinner – part II combines the beauty of nature\, the joy of creative spiritual practices\, and the delight of community and a shared meal. \n\n\n\nYou’ll learn how to harness the vibrant colors and intricate patterns found in leaves\, flowers\, and other botanical elements through eco printing\, an art form that uses natural materials to create stunning prints on fabric and paper. We’ll be experimenting with processes that use steam & mordant and hammering/rolling. No prior experience or attendance at our first session is required – just bring your enthusiasm and a sense of wonder! \n\n\n\nWe’ll provide dinner\, brief tutorials\, and materials to get you started\, but participants are also invited to bring materials from home to use or share. \n\n\n\nSuggested Items: \n\n\n\n\nLeaves (especially those rich in tannins): blackberry\, maple\, oak\, birch\, alder\, sumac\, walnut\, eucalyptus\, rose\, ferns\n\n\n\nFlowers: catmint\, marigolds\, coreopsis\, calendula\, pansies\, rose\, rudbeckia\, violets\, daisies\, petunias\, dandelions\n\n\n\nKitchen Scraps: Onion peels\, carrot tops\, cabbage leaves\n\n\n\nRubber gloves\n\n\n\n\nRegistration for our Eco Printing Event is required.
