SUMMARY:RE Sleepover (3rd—7th grade)
DESCRIPTION:This past spring\, our older Elementary RE kids requested a sleepover at church\, and we thought it would be a fun way to start their RE year! \n\n\n\nThe sleepover will be on Friday\, August 25. It will start after our Family Fun Night on Friday\, August 25. It is open to rising 3rd-7th graders and will end after breakfast on the 26th (pickup between 9-10am).  \n\n\n\nParticipants do not have to attend the Family Fun Night and if attending the fun night\, families do not have to stay for the full time. Families can email me to sign-up their child(ren) to participate\, and for those who have signed up can expect an email next week with supplies\, permission slip\, etc. \n\n\n\nParents/caregivers\, if you would be willing to help supervise part of the sleepover\, please let me know.

DESCRIPTION:Families are invited to join us to kick off the RE year with a Family Fun Night on Friday\, August 25 from 5:00-8:00 PM. Weather dependent\, we’ll have outdoor games\, and invite everyone to bring camp chairs. We’ll have a pizza dinner at 6:00 PM\, and as part of the evening\, we’ll have our annual backpack blessing and share our hopes and blessings for the start of the new school year. \n\n\n\n3rd-7th graders are invited to stay for their RE sleepover. See more details here! \n\n\n\nThis evening is open to all UU Wausau members and friends\, and the backpack blessing ritual is for folks of any age who would like a blessing for new beginnings.

DESCRIPTION:Concerned about the climate crisis? Feeling overwhelmed? \n\n\n\nJoin a refreshing discussion with others concerned about climate and looking for some hope instead of despair. Climate Fiction Book Reads meetsagain on May 20 at the Marathon County Public Library-Wausau from 10:30 am – 11:30 am. \n\n\n\nWe are reading short stories with hopeful themes. Short stories minimize the stress of reading a complete novel yet are full enough to inspire robust discussion. \n\n\n\nOur next book is called: Afterglow: Climate Fiction for Future Ancestors\, edited by Grist. We decided to all read one “anchor” story and then choose two other stories to read on your own\, and come prepared to share your reactions and thoughts with the rest of the group. Please read the first story “Afterglow” and the other two stories are of your choice. \n\n\n\nJanke Bookstore expects to have book copies available at the front of the store with the other book club books. The library may choose to order some copies for their shelves too. If so\, they likely won’t be available until May. \n\n\n\nThis month’s meeting will be May 20\, and we will continue the discussion of “Afterglow.” Please feel free to share the invitation andinformation with others.
