DESCRIPTION:The First Universalist-Unitarian Church of Wausau will celebrate the 54th annual Earth Day in the atrium after our Spring Sing Service.  The official Earth Day theme this year is “Planet vs. Plastics.”  The 2023-24 scroll for Project SEA-Change will be on display\, and the 2024-25 scroll will be ready for you to record your weekly good deeds for the planet\, such as recycling approved plastics. \n\n\n\nWe ask that you contribute one cup of a raw fruit or vegetable\, washed and cut into bite-sized pieces.  As we did last year\, we will combine our contributions into one big\, colorful\, communal concoction of truly tasty delight:  The UU Wausau Earth Day Super-Salad.

SUMMARY:Marathon County Hunger Coalition · Weekend Community Collection Focus
DESCRIPTION:Typically\, on the third weekend of each month\, our Sunday collection is given to a pre-selected Ministry Partner\, organization or cause\, like this one\, that puts our values into practice.  This week we are moving the CFC to April 28. \n\n\n\nThis weekend’s Ministry Partner is the Marathon County Hunger Coalition. \n\n\n\n\nMCHC (Marathon County Hunger Coalition) is a United Way initiative that focuses on filling the gaps of food insecurity in Marathon County.\n\n\n\nMCHC invests $96\,000 into the Farm to Family CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program. The food is purchased through Red Door and Cattail\, packed at The Neighbors’ Place\, and distributed at local agencies like The Neighbors’ Place\, First Presbyterian Church\, Boys and Girls Club\, First Covenant\, Community Center of Hope\, and The Women’s Community. Last year 2\,600 boxes were distributed.\n\n\n\nMCHC sets up a table at the summer Farmer’s Market for Market Gleaning. This is volunteer based and an MCHC member is also present. This means vendors and attendees of the market can donate produce that is then stored at The Neighbors’ Place and distributed through The Market and other pantries.\n\n\n\nMCHC’s invests $20\,000 into The Egg Program. This provides easy\, healthy protein to our pantry. Partners of this program are the Early Bird Rotary Club\, Kwik Trip\, and Ninepatch Farm. MCHC makes three purchases a month that agencies can pick up from us to distribute in their pantries as well as The Neighbors’ Place.\n\n\n\n\nTo donate online\, please text FirstUUWausau to 73256 or click here.

Sometimes\, hope turns ugly\, as egocentric optimism imposed on others. Yet hope can also be a lifeline. How do we get in touch with a deeper and truer hope which can sustain us?Melody Moberg (she/her) is a Unitarian Universalist ministerial candidate and a spiritual director. She graduated with a Master of Divinity from Seattle University’s School of Theology and Ministry in 2022 and previously served as a UU religious educator. Church will be transformed with rooms of amazing auction items along with heavy hors d’oeuvres\, delicious desserts and beverages.  This wonderful evening of eating\, socialization and auction offerings only happens once every two years. It is a great opportunity to spend time with new and old UU friends in a fun social setting. \n\n\n\n\nVIEW THE AUCTION CATALOG HERE\n\n\n\n\nTICKETS:  Price is $30 and $35 at the door.  Ticket sales are now closed. \n\n\n\nCan’t make it to the event? You can still bid on (and potentially win) a service or a seat at a dinner or anything listed in the catalog by emailing an absentee bid to Kay Meyer (kmeyer1104@gmail.com). You can also get an event-attending friend to be your proxy. \n\n\n\nWe again hope to raise significant funds to support the ongoing ministry of our church. We raise this money when YOU (church members and friends) donate goods\, skills\, dinners and services and others bid on your offerings. \n\n\n\nWe now need everyone to put their thinking caps on and decide what you can offer (either by yourself or  combined with others).
