SUMMARY:Youth Religious Education
DESCRIPTION:Youth Group – Value Quest: Exploring What Matters Most\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis year\, our youth will explore the values they chose as the most important to them – Adventure\, Honesty\, Play & Humor\, Fun\, Conscience & Integrity\, Generosity\, Forgiveness\, Kindness & Respect\, Creativity\, Learning & Growing\, Family & Connections\, Peace\, Friendship\, and Fairness & Equity.Together\, they’ll dive into big questions: How can I make time for play and humor in my life? How can I live in a way that reflects my deepest values? What does it mean to live generously? How do you begin again in love? And through conversation\, service\, games\, and shared experiences\, they’ll discover how to carry these values with them as they move into adulthood. \n\n\n\nReach out to our Director of Religious Education to find out the theme for any particular week and learn how your youth can jump in and be part of the fun.

SUMMARY:Creativity Matters
DESCRIPTION:Awakening Curiosity\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMay’s Creativity Matters theme is Awakening Curiosity\, and invites us to follow our curiosity wherever it leads in our creative process\, letting questions\, wonder\, and unexpected interests guide what we notice and make. Through art\, we’ll explore new connections\, try new approaches\, and discover what emerges when curiosity is our starting point. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProject Options\n\n\n\nWe will have supplies for Project Options A\, D\, and E from the monthly Creativity Matters packet*: \n\n\n\n\nCuriosity Collage: inspired by the packet’s Cabinet of Curiosity activity\, this activity invites us to create a visual collection of small\, intriguing objects and images arranged as if in a personal mini-museum.\n\n\n\nGetting Curious with Cards: Make art inspired by tarot or oracle cards\, following your curiosity wherever it leads. You might pull a card\, then use its imagery\, symbols\, or mood for inspiration in your art. Or skip the deck entirely and let curiosity guide you in creating your own original card from scratch.\n\n\n\nBeginner’s Mind Art: Create a series of artworks based on something ordinary or familiar\, approaching it with a “beginner’s mind.” Choose a simple subject and make multiple variations of it over time\, changing at least one small element each time. \n\n\n\n\nDon’t have a copy of this month’s Creativity Matters guide? Sign up to be part of the mailing list or reach out to our Director of Religious Education for a copy! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat is Creativity Matters?\n\n\n\nOur Creativity Matters group helps community members engage in monthly themes and explore spiritual growth through creative expression. \n\n\n\nIt’s all about allowing our intuition and imagination to guide us\, not just our logic and reflective minds. Think of it as making room for your right brain to dance with your left brain. \n\n\n\nCreativity Matters is a high school and adult group designed for everyone — no experience or artistic skill is required! Just bring a playful spirit and adventurous attitude.

SUMMARY:Saturday Art Hangout
DESCRIPTION:Spring brings a season of growth\, abundance\, and wild energy. This community art gathering offers space to explore imagination\, passion\, and the vibrant rhythms of the season through open-ended creative practice. No art experience is needed\, and all materials are provided. \n\n\n\nChoose a project that calls to you or bring your own: \n\n\n\n\nNature Masks: Create a mask inspired by the living world. Use color\, texture\, and natural items to explore identity\, transformation\, and the wild spirit of the season.\n\n\n\nWild Collage: Gather images\, textures\, and materials that catch your attention and follow your instincts. Tear\, cut\, and arrange them freely\, following intuition rather than a plan. Let unexpected combinations and discoveries guide your composition as it grows.\n\n\n\nAccidental Art: Embrace the unpredictable. Drip\, splatter\, smear\, and let materials move on their own. Respond to what happens on the page rather than controlling it. “Mistakes” become part of the work\, opening space for surprise\, play\, and emerging creative directions.\n\n\n\n\nOur Saturday Art Gatherings welcome artists\, crafters\, and creative beginners alike\, and are open to adults and teens. We provide examples\, gentle guidance\, and a variety of supplies to spark your process. Participants are also welcome to bring materials from home to use or share at our community resource table! \n\n\n\nSuggested Items to Bring: \n\n\n\n\nNatural items: leaves\, petals\, small sticks\, seeds\, feathers\n\n\n\nFabric scraps\, ribbons\, yarn\, lace\n\n\n\nInteresting textures: foil\, bubble wrap\, mesh\n\n\n\nStamps\, stickers\, or stencils

SUMMARY:Creativity Matters
DESCRIPTION:Embracing Possibility\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nApril’s Creativity Matters theme is Embracing Possibility\, and we’ll be exploring it through the imaginative world of Surrealism. Rather than sampling many artistic styles\, we’ll dive into this single movement\, which sought to unlock the possibilities of the unconscious and challenge the limits of rational thinking and “reality.” As you experiment with different Surrealist techniques\, you’ll be invited not only to create\, but also to reflect on where you may feel stuck\, the assumptions you carry\, and the new possibilities that might be waiting just beneath the surface. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProject Options\n\n\n\nWe will have supplies for Project Options A\, D\, and E from the monthly Creativity Matters packet*: \n\n\n\n\nJuxtaposition Collages: Combine unexpected elements in a surrealist collage to challenge familiar assumptions and imagine a world full of new possibilities.\n\n\n\nAutomatic Drawing: Let go of conscious control and draw freely\, allowing your subconscious to guide the creative process.\n\n\n\nPossibilities of Dreams: Use the medium of your choice to bring your dreams to life\, exploring the hidden possibilities and truths they reveal.\n\n\n\n\nDon’t have a copy of this month’s Creativity Matters guide? Sign up to be part of the mailing list or reach out to our Director of Religious Education for a copy! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat is Creativity Matters?\n\n\n\nCreativity Matters is a drop-in small group for teens and adults to slow down\, connect\, and explore monthly spiritual themes together through art and imagination. \n\n\n\nIt’s less about skill and more about play\, allowing intuition\, reflection\, and creativity to guide us. Think of it as a gentle space where your right brain gets to dance with your left. \n\n\n\nEach gathering offers time for sharing\, creating\, and simply being together. No experience is needed. Just bring your curiosity and a playful spirit.

SUMMARY:Saturday Art Hangout
DESCRIPTION:Stirring Imagination: A Spring Art Gathering\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAt the beginning of Spring\, when light and dark meet in balance\, we gather for a time of creative expression. This seasonal art gathering invites participants to explore themes of emergence\, attention\, and the slow awakening of spring and imagination through art-making. \n\n\n\nChoose a project that calls to you or bring your own: \n\n\n\n\nBalanced Collage – Choose a few shapes and images\, then arrange them thoughtfully on the page\, paying attention to balance\, symmetry\, and open space. This project invites you to notice how separate pieces relate to one another.\n\n\n\nEmbroidered Mandala – Create a stitched mandala as a way to slow down\, focus\, and notice the present moment. Each stitch is a small\, intentional act\, helping you connect with balance and the rhythms of the season.\n\n\n\nSpring Egg Art – Decorate a wooden egg as a symbol of new life and possibility. Explore color\, pattern\, or meaning in whatever way feels right to you.\n\n\n\n\nOur Saturday Art Gatherings welcome artists\, crafters\, and creative beginners alike\, and are open to adults and teens. We provide examples\, gentle guidance\, and a variety of supplies to spark your process. SUMMARY:Creativity Matters
DESCRIPTION:Paying Attention\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMarch’s Creativity Matters theme is “paying attention.” Through reflection and creativity\, we’ll explore how what we give our attention to shapes who we are\, and how slowing down to notice art and beauty can change us. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProject Options\n\n\n\nWe will have supplies for Project Options C\, D\, and G from the monthly Creativity Matters packet*: \n\n\n\n\nAnnoted Art: You start with a picture (one you find\, photograph\, or draw). Then you look at it closely and draw lines to small details that catch your eye. Next to each line\, you write a short note about what you notice\, wonder about\, or find meaningful.\n\n\n\nFinder Art: Use your Finder\, a piece of paper with a square cut out\, to frame and focus in on a detail. Draw or paint what you see\, repeating the process and noticing patterns in what captures your attention.\n\n\n\nSavor Collage: Pick a single word or idea – something like shadows\, circles\, benches\, rust\, or a color. Collect images of that idea\, noticing their details\, both the similarities and differences between them. Then arrange your collection into a collage that highlights what you’ve discovered.\n\n\n\n\nDon’t have a copy of this month’s Creativity Matters guide?

SUMMARY:OWL 7-9
DESCRIPTION:Our Whole Lives Grades 7-9\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGrounded in the core values of self-worth\, responsibility\, justice\, and inclusivity\, Our Whole Lives (OWL) is a positive\, comprehensive sexuality education program that helps young people make informed\, responsible decisions about their relationships\, health\, and well-being. The 7th–9th grade curriculum creates a supportive space for youth to explore topics\, like: healthy relationships\, gender identity & sexual orientation\, sexual health\, consent\, and cultural influences on sexuality. \n\n\n\nOWL encourages youth to actively explore and reflect on their own values\, attitudes\, and beliefs\, and through open dialogue and skill-building\, participants gain tools to make informed\, thoughtful\, and responsible decisions about their relationships\, sexual health\, and behavior. \n\n\n\nThis program is open to youth in grades 7–9 (or homeschool equivalent\, typically ages 12–14 as of September 1\, 2025) who have not previously taken OWL. \n\n\n\nRegistration for this year’s OWL program is now closed. We will offer OWL 7-9th grade again during the 2026-2027 school year. \n\n\n\nFor more information\, please contact the Director of Religious Education.
