We will proudly partner with the American Red Cross to hold what we expect to be the first of many blood drives. The Red Cross has over 135 years of experience providing humanitarian aid including more than 75 years of supplying blood to those in need. \n\n\n\nEach pint of blood we collect can help save up to three lives and will touch the lives of so many more. What a great way to pay it forward and make an impact on people in our community and across the country. We are very excited about the drive and I hope you are too. \n\n\n\nThere are many ways you can help\, but most importantly we hope you come out to donate. It’s not every day that we do something that has such an impact. Let’s blow this out of the water! Thank you for making First UU Church of Wausau what it is. We look forward to seeing you at the blood drive. \n\n\n\n\nTo Volunteer\, please click here\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nTo donate blood\, please click here\n\n\n\n\nYou can also schedule donation appointments at www.redcrossblood.org and enter Sponsor Code: Firstuu in the “Find a Blood Drive” field. \n\n\n\nWalk-in’s are welcome\, but signing up for a spot is preferred. Our church is one of 17 congregations and community groups that provide meals 52 times each year. \n\n\n\nPost-pandemic\, meals have been distributed strictly through drive-up. Presbyterian Chuck Schlitz and his committee don’t see this service returning to the dining hall in the near future. \n\n\n\nOur church generously provides meals four times a year\, the first Sundays in October\, November\, February\, and March. \n\n\n\nPast practice has been to make the food in someone’s home and assemble the food in containers at the church kitchen. Four to five people are needed on those Sundays to help with packing and distribution as people drive up. Typically\, about 100 meals are distributed. \n\n\n\nAny church member interested in helping with these meals can contact Marsha Fitzgerald at 715-298-1419 or 715-551-5618. \n\n\n\nA special thanks to many of you who have been very generous in providing homemade desserts for distribution and who helped with distribution. \n\n\n\n*This post has been lightly edited for length URL:https://uuwausau.org/event/volunteer-opportunity-community-supper/2024-03-03/ LOCATION:First Presbyterian Church\, 406 Grant Street\, Wausau\, Wisconsin\, 54403\, United States CATEGORIES:Volunteering Opportunities ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://uuwausau.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/community-meals-scaled.jpg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Chicago:20240204T000000 DTEND;TZID=America/Chicago:20240204T235959 DTSTAMP:20230929T174809Z CREATED:20230925T174838Z LAST-MODIFIED:20230929T174809Z UID:10002979-1707004800-1707091199@uuwausau.org SUMMARY:Volunteer Opportunity · Community Supper DESCRIPTION:The First Presbyterian Church started serving free meals every Sunday beginning in 2006.
