It’s about showing up — for yourself and for each other — with kindness and intention. \n\n\n\nLet’s meet in stillness and rise in strength \n\n\n\n\nWhere: First Universalist Unitarian Church of Wausau\, 504 Grant St.\, Wausau\, WI 54403\n\n\n\nWhen: Sundays 6:30 – 8:00 pm\, weekly\n\n\n\nWho: Everyone is welcome\, no experience necessary\n\n\n\nWhat: Each 1.5 hour session is designed to include building of community\, sharing/discussion on topic or theme\, and practicing mindfulness with gentle movement and stillness\n\n\n\n\nIf this speaks to you\, we would be honored to have you with us. Feel free to invite others who may benefit. \n\n\n\nYour hosts are Lisa Stein and Jeanine Knapp \n\n\n\nLisa Stein is new to the UU Wausau community\, having returned to Wausau early in 2023 after living in Madison for 34 years. She is grateful to have been invited to the UU by another member and now attends with her son and his family\, who are also new to the area. Lisa is a retired educator who brought mindfulness meditation and wellness to teachers\, students\, and school communities. She teaches a meditation program called Mindful Based Stress Reduction (MBSR).  \n\n\n\nJeanine moved to Wausau in 2020 and has been a part of UU Wausau since that fall when  Soul Matters groups met virtually; Jeanine was a Soul Matters group participant for 3 years. SUMMARY:Creativity Matters
DESCRIPTION:Practicing Resistance\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAfter exploring “choosing hope” in December\, January invites us to focus on resistance and how creativity can help us stand firm\, speak out\, and act in the face of challenges. Through art and creative practice\, we’ll examine the ways expression can bolster courage\, clarify values\, and sustain us when the world asks us to compromise or stay silent. Together\, we’ll discover how making can be an act of resilience\, empowerment\, and quiet defiance\, helping us shape the world we want to see. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProject Options\n\n\n\nWe will have supplies for Project Options from the January 2026 Creativity Matters packet*: D & E\, and from the April 2023 Creativity Matters packet: D: \n\n\n\n\nRubberband Art \n\n\n\nYour Word for The New Year\n\n\n\nWax Resistance Art\n\n\n\n\nDon’t have a copy of this month’s Creativity Matters guide? Sign up to be part of the mailing list or reach out to our Director of Religious Education for a copy! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat is Creativity Matters?\n\n\n\nCreativity Matters is a drop-in small group for teens and adults to slow down\, connect\, and explore monthly spiritual themes together through art and imagination. \n\n\n\nIt’s less about skill and more about play\, allowing intuition\, reflection\, and creativity to guide us. Think of it as a gentle space where your right brain gets to dance with your left. \n\n\n\nEach gathering offers time for sharing\, creating\, and simply being together. No experience is needed. Just bring your curiosity and a playful spirit.
