SUMMARY:Community Collection Focus · Ministry Partners
DESCRIPTION:Community Focus Collection (CFC)\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nOctober CFC: New Beginnings for Refugees\n\n\n\nOn the third weekend of each month during September – May\, our Sunday collection is given to a pre-selected Ministry Partner\, organization or cause\, like this one\, that puts our values into practice. For October\, our selected partner is New Beginnings for Refugees. \n\n\n\nEnglish Language Learners are a major focus of the New Beginnings for Refugees organization. The ELL program offers a unique service to our new families. It is the only place that provides free childcare while the students are learning. Whether Afghan\, Syrian\, Rohinga\, Ukrainian and more\, most of the mothers come knowing no English. ELL offers them a safe place within a like community of learners to take that difficult step of learning a new language. While they learn their children play in a safe environment and also learn the cultural expectations of their new homeland. They also get an opportunity to acquire a few more household necessities from the New Beginnings Pantry. Your past and continued support of New Beginnings for Refugees is greatly appreciated.  \n\n\n\nJoyce Schneider will be the speaker on behalf of New Beginnings for Refugees.

SUMMARY:Children's Religious Education
DESCRIPTION:This year\, our Children’s RE group is blending our play-based model with Holy Troublemakers & Unconventional Saints\, an illustrated collection by Daneen Akers that highlights people from diverse faiths who have stood up for justice and love\, even when it meant challenging the status quo. \n\n\n\nWe’ll learn about inspiring figures like: \n\n\n\n\nBayard Rustin\n\n\n\nFred Rogers\n\n\n\nValarie Kaur\n\n\n\nKaitlin Curtice\n\n\n\nThich Nhat Hanh\n\n\n\nRumi\n\n\n\nMary Oliver\n\n\n\n\nAnd we’ll be adding our own Unitarian\, Universalist\, and Unitarian Universalist ancestors\, including Norbert Čapek and Francis Ellen Watkins Harper. \n\n\n\nEach Sunday\, elementary school-aged participants will discover one of these holy troublemakers and then explore the week’s themes in our open play spaces\, including an art room\, contemplation room\, make-believe room\, game area\, nature space\, music space\, and makerspace.

SUMMARY:Youth Religious Education
DESCRIPTION:C2: Coming of Age Cafe\n\n\n\nC2 is a unique coming-of-age space designed to honor youth choice and support them in taking ownership of their spiritual paths\, C2 is a space where youth can connect\, collaborate\, create\, and rest while exploring the deep questions of identity\, belonging\, and purpose. Each week\, the group will be invited to explore questions such as: \n\n\n\n\nHow do I honor the child I once was…and will carry with me?\n\n\n\nWhat are the labels and expectations our families put on us?\n\n\n\nWhere is the line between belonging and fitting in?\n\n\n\nWhat privileges belong to me\, and how do I use them to support the belonging of others?\n\n\n\nHow do I honor where I come from?\n\n\n\nHow do I celebrate the unique me?\n\n\n\nHow do I prevent labels from hemming me in?\n\n\n\nWhat are my core values?\n\n\n\nWhat are my passions and joys?\n\n\n\nWho do I hope to become?\n\n\n\nHow do we disagree without destroying relationships?\n\n\n\nHow do I resist “me-ism” and honor our intertwined fates?\n\n\n\n\nThen youth can choose how they’d like to go deeper with that week’s theme. Whether they choose to play a game\, make art\, enjoy a snack\, quietly reflect\, or simply relax\, C2 is an intentional time for youth to nurture their well-being\, explore those big coming-of-age questions as they move from childhood to adolescence\, and discover the answers together.

SUMMARY:Sunday Worship And Glorified Coffee Hour
DESCRIPTION:Choosing Your Neglect – The Rev. Brian Mason\, preaching\n\n\n\nIn a world ruled by the tyranny of speed\, we’re urged to fill every moment and stay in the present. But what happens when demands outpace our time? This sermon invites us to purposely let go of what doesn’t really matter\, so life can show its meaning to us\, rather than us always trying to force our own. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nOctober Community Focus Collection (CFC): New Beginnings for Refugees\n\n\n\nOn the third weekend of each month during September – May\, our Sunday collection is given to a pre-selected Ministry Partner\, organization or cause\, like this one\, that puts our values into practice.
