SUMMARY:Summer Religious Education
DESCRIPTION:This Summer\, running June 16 – August 25\, our Sunday morning Religious Education (RE) sessions are all about getting outside and playing! This year we are focusing on using our imaginations to build\, create\, and explore. Session themes include blanket forts\, fairy houses\, paper airplanes\, a scavenger hunt field trip\, obstacle courses\, and more! \n\n\n\nThe group will meet in the lobby on Sundays at 10:30 am. Children should come dressed for the weather (sunscreen\, hat\, light jacket for chilly mornings\, etc.)\, and in inclement weather\, we will move our play indoors. \n\n\n\nSummer RE is geared for kids in preschool – 5th grade but is open to older children. \n\n\n\nThemes: \n\n\n\n\nJune 16: Game Day\n\n\n\nJune 23: Fairy Houses\n\n\n\nJune 30: Paper Airplanes\n\n\n\nJuly 7: Parachute Games\n\n\n\nJuly 14: Scavenger Hunt (start/end at Yawkey Gardens)\n\n\n\nJuly 21: Blanket Forts\n\n\n\nJuly 28: Body Percussion\n\n\n\nAugust 4: Obstacle Course\n\n\n\nAugust 11: Junk Sculptures\n\n\n\nAugust 18: Bubbles\n\n\n\nAugust 25: Mini Golf

SUMMARY:Sunday Worship And Glorified Coffee Hour
DESCRIPTION:Taming Our Lust for Spirituality: A Longer and Closer Look at Neurons\n\n\n\nGuest speaker: Greg Venne \n\n\n\nCurrent research in the workings of our brain opens deeper understandings of how and why we feel and think the way we do. Scientists count over 100 billion neurons in our brain that constantly work to create our memories\, our feelings\, and perceptions of ourselves and the world outside our physical selves. This opens a discussion about our thoughts and feelings that we call spiritual. One critical question becomes: Can a world of spirits/spirituality exist beyond the work of those neurons? Current science leads me to be skeptical. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin Us On Sundays For Services That Inform & Inspire\n\n\n\nSermons at UU Wausau encompass many topics\, but always with the intent of cultivating dialogue and fostering growth. On any given Sunday\, you will hear a sermon that stimulates your thinking about life\, opens a new perspective on the Bible\, or speaks to the state of the world with words of hope or healing. Join us Sunday in person as we worship together.

SUMMARY:Taste of Soul [Matters]
DESCRIPTION:Are you searching for a way to deepen your spiritual journey and connections within our community? Or have you been curious about our small groups but not sure if you are ready to commit? Join us in Yawkey Hall after Sunday’s service for a special session to try out Soul Matters. \n\n\n\nDuring Taste of Soul\, you’ll be introduced to the Soul Matters program and how it is structured\, use the Soul Matters materials\, experience a Soul Matters session\, and have any questions about our small groups answered.  \n\n\n\nSo whether you’re new to our community or looking to further your spiritual journey\, this session is the perfect place to start. \n\n\n\nRSVPs are appreciated\, but not required. Contact our Director of Religious Education to sign up or with questions. \n\n\n\nWhat is a Soul Matters Small Group?\n\n\n\nSoul Matters Small Groups consist of 6-10 people\, who commit to meet monthly from September – June to share their reflections and experiences with a monthly theme. \n\n\n\nEach month\, participants receive a packet filled with readings\, questions\, and exercises related to that month’s theme\, and they choose a question and/or exercise from the packet that speaks to them\, spending time “walking with” it\, allowing it to challenge and inspire them. \n\n\n\nThen during their group’s meeting\, rather than providing answers and analysis to the questions\, each person’s sharing focuses on a story or experience about how their chosen question or exercise led them to a new and personal insight. \n\n\n\nThis approach of reflection\, sharing\, listening\, holding space\, and engaging in regular spiritual practice is an opportunity to grow deeper spiritually and as a community by supporting each other\, offering witness\, and participating together.
